आधूनिक लेखन साहीत्य सहज उपलब्ध नसलेल्या काळात सुरवातीचे अक्षर शिक्षण अक्षरे धूळीवरच गिरवून होत असे . त्यास मराठीत धूळपाटी म्हणतात. विकिपीडिया सहप्रकल्प धूळपाटी नावाची पाने तात्पुरते बदल करून पहाण्या करिता वापरतात तर संगणक क्षेत्रात नवी बीटा आज्ञावली मुख्य आज्ञावली जोडण्यापूर्वी प्रयोगाकरिता वापरण्यासही धूळपाटी असे म्हणतात
